How to operate Strategic Decision Making controller.

Imagine two cups in your hands, One of these cups is a passenger and the other is a pilot. In life one can be either a passenger or a pilot. You either let people make the biggest decisions of their life or you make those decisions yourself. Are you the person who lets everything happen just like that or Are u the person who controls it? Are you the person who follows a life path set by other people or are you the person who sets it yourself? My point here is that you can either be a passenger or a pilot. You cannot be both and you cannot be none of them. The decisions that you make in your life are the decisions that are going to tell you your future. One decision of yours could change who you are, who you will be and who you want to become. Every moment in one’s life should not be passed by, but cherished as if it were to be the last moment they live. Taking time to think about the next step in your life is cherishing your life. The choice made in every moment of life will end up affecting you good or bad.

One needs to realize that they need to think two steps ahead instead of one and end up falling behind.  From putting off alarm clock in the morning to handling your work life balance, from buying a blue T-shirt or a green T-shirt at your favorite store to adding an extra spoon of sugar in your coffee, from painting your bedroom wall pink to drunk-dialing your crush — you take a plethora of decisions, make choices, and bear the consequences.

Choices are everywhere. During our childhood and young age our parents making most of our decisions for our better and brighter future and we follow their guidelines. As we grow up, we start learning how to choose
between the options placed strategically in front of us and
make decisions.

The choices we make and the decisions we take have a
long lasting impact on our life. They make us our true self, gives an identity, develops a personality, put a bar of distinction between us and everyone else. Our lives are a series of choices we’ve made so far. We live with those choices for the rest of our lives — the rest of your life is a pretty long period. Whether you feel it immediately or not, your life is being shaped by the choices you are making in the present.

Whether you decide to go to gym or take that painting class you always wanted to or get your hair colored in shades of golden or travel to foreign lands alone/friends/family — it’s your choice. It is all your choice. It has always been your choice. The past is unalterable yet offers you an insight on the mistakes you made. The present is a gift you need to make the best of, and the core of your future comprises each and every decision you have ever taken.

There are two types of choices hard and easy choices. In easy choices one option is clearly better than the other whereas in hard decision both the options have their pros and cons and you think they are roughly equal. Should I eat a doughnut or cereals for breakfast, should I be a Entrepreneur or a Banker, should I listen to music or not? All these are choices that we make. Thinking a lot in hard choice doesn’t mean we are stupid it just means that you are unable to find the better one out of them.

A hard choice for one may be choosing this topic or something else. How long we need to think and decide.

  1. Pause, Deep breath
  2. Visualize two cups in your hands, each cup represents a topic.
  3. Put a coin in a cup while thinking about a value or benefit of choosing that particular topic, similarly, repeat the process of for the other side.
  4. Keep on thinking, analyzing from different angles and keep on filling the cups with coins.
  5. Once you are through, visualize those cups keeping at a table and think about topics and put coins while getting benefits and values of that particular choice.
  6. Finely find yourself with most favorable, feasible and fruitful choice.

I took a decision to write this blog, selected this topic and shared it. Can say that I have made another decision following a decision strategy, Yes it is. When we start following a particular strategy, it becomes a part of unconscious, finally become a nature for us. Coaching helps a person to enable and take over the control as a pilot. A pilot who can identify and follow fruitful strategy, correct and modify less productive strategy, can model an expert’s golden nugget strategy. Again it is coming to the same point “Are you a pilot to control your decision making strategy.”
