Never Giving Up!!!
‘When the world gives up, hope whispers just try it one more time’
There was a 12 year boy travelling with his father on a train. He kept observing little things like the birds flying, the elephants braking tree branches with their trunks and trees with massive heights. He kept wondering what if he could fly like those birds or what if he could be strong as elephants or whether he could be as tall as the trees. Right from his birth he had lot of struggle to survive in this world. Physically he used to feel weak but mentally he was quite sharp and strong. He asked his father “Is it possible for me to live my dreams, visionary approach like birds, strong like elephant and Brave like lion.” His father replied “Son, those things can happen only when you have a strong will power and never giving up attitude”. Visualizing and considering his current situation that boy told his father ” How come is it possible father, I feel myself so weak.” His dad said “There is always a way no matter, what if the ways in front of you close or seems impossible to open but there is always a one more door, that is known as the door of faith. All you need is to walk out of your comfort zone and take a risk and put your efforts to open that door,”.
That risk made the whole world. They are the starters of this very country. They taught us that there will always be a way no matter what. That little risk that we take is the biggest chance of our success. even when all the heros disintegrate there will always be another way of destroying thanos. Even when we where born we stepped out of our comfort zone in heaven and took a step into this world.
Once, a young school boy was caught in a fire accident in his school and was assumed that he would not live. His mother was told that he was sure to die, for the terrible fire had devastated the lower half of his body. Even if he were to survive, he would be a cripple throughout his life.
But the brave boy did not want to die nor did he want to be a cripple. Much to be the amazement of the doctor, he did survive. But unfortunately from his waist down, he had no motor ability. His thin legs just dangled there, lifeless. Ultimately he was discharged from the hospital. But his determination to walk was indomitable. At home, when he was not in bed, he was confined to a wheelchair. One day, he threw himself from the chair and pulled himself across the grass, dragging his legs behind him. He reached the picket fence, raised himself up and then stake by stake, he began dragging himself along the fence, his resolve to walk undeterred. He did this every day, with faith in himself that he would be able to walk unaided. With his iron persistence and his resolute determination, he did develop the ability to stand up, then to walk haltingly, then to walk by himself and then to run.
He began to walk to school, then run to school, to run for the sheer joy of running. Later in college he made the track team.
In February 1934, in New York City’s famed Madison Square Garden, this young man who was not expected to survive, who would surely never walk, who could never hope to run – this determined young man, Dr. Glenn Cunningham, ran the world’s fastest mile.
Even if medicines or doctors couldn’t help or heal him he took a risk and healed himself up just by his sheer willpower and belief. Glenn Cunningham continues to be an inspiration for many, and his story, a brilliant testimony to how one can bounce back even when all odds are stacked against one, to the extent that death seemed the preferable option.
Not everything goes as we planned or envisioned in our lives. This is exactly why there is a great need to step out of your comfort zone and move into that what if. We learn an important lesson from the river ganga. As it flows down from the Himalayas it does not always get the path that it need so in order to overcome those problems it changes its route a bit and then goes back to its former course. It changes its plan looking at the difficulties or the problems that comes in its way. Don’t be rigid on what you have decided. Learn to change your plan each time you walk. Adjust your plans. Adapt to the challenges that life that life throws at you. Apply the greatest virtue of flexibility. Don’t be rigid to those a few options in front of you. All you need is to step out of your comfort zone and take a risk.
Keep in mind diamonds, a highly sought after and valuable mineral , are only formed by extreme heat and pressure. We are no different. We have the potential to be, but we must be willing to take risks. The most valuable commodity we have is time. With each second that passes, our stock of time diminishes. Be willing to work hard. Be willing to take risks. Be willing to reach for greatness.
We will find our real ingenuity and creativity as we take a risk. If we do not challenge ourselves we will not find the star hidden inside.
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go.” T. S. Eliot
